Trance Dance

SHAMANIC MEDICINE & SOUL ALCHEMY WITH MISHA HOOTrance Dance is a contemporary movement practice for healing, spiritual growth and personal transformation. A Trance Dance ritual uses a unique combination of rhythm, breathing and sensory deprivation via the bandana to facilitate individual shamanic journeying.

By covering the eyes with a bandana, participants turn their attention inwards towards the self, releasing the distractions of the outside world.  The bandana also creates privacy within the group, allowing you the freedom of your own experience.

Specific breathing techniques assist the dancer to release the conscious mind, to enter an ‘altered state’ where the body and soul can be heard more readily. Since birth, the only consistent rhythm in our lives is our heartbeat and breathing.  Through the breath, we open to our primal selves and reconnect to the timeless continuum of life.  Trance Dance music combines organic sounds, world music such as African and Cuban beats, chanting and original electronic music specifically designed to support the Trance Dance experience.

As we journey through our own consciousness, we are able to release fixed ideas and open to inspiration.  As we step out of the routine and pressures of our daily lives, we give our soul a chance to speak; often revealing life-changing insights.  By surrendering to the dance, we allow our bodies the freedom to express unconditionally – without concern for the judgements or opinions of others.  In trusting our own inner journey, we allow our spirit to lead us and to guide us through the darker places of our psyche, bringing us to a depth of self awareness and understanding.

Trance Dance is a powerful way to experience a solo journey into your inner world and can be arranged as an individual experience or facilitated for a group. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any further information.
